St. Louis

I’m still reading The Chronicles of the Crusades: The Life of St. Louis by Jean de Joinville for school, so it will be a while before I finish reading it and am able to write a concise summary on the story. So far it is very interesting book, and keeps me enthralled with the life of the Saintly King. I am currently reading about his first attack against Egypt, and on how he was one of the first to jump off the ships while they were storming the beach. Louis is a true heroic figure of the man of ‘prayer and action.’ More coming soon…

Some Bloody Awful Stuff…

narnia Enclosed below is the first EVER of my writings. (As anyone can tell. lol) I personally call it the ‘forbidden’ paper, since by people reading it, all I have received is humiliation and embarrassment. I composed this at the end of 2005, around the release of Narnia. Like all people who watch movies, it had not effect on me. :) Lol, ok… maybe it did. I wrote 5 chapters in all in this Narnia series, and each seems… to get a bit worse as it goes along… I hope you enjoy it and understand that it’s one of those mistakes of the past!

Chapter 1

The serene morning was disturbed by the piercing shrill of the whistle of a train some miles down the track. It was getting closer, after a while she could hear the roar of the engine coming in over the track like thunder trembling in the air. The train finally pulled into the shed, the momentum of the train carrying it forward. The wheels clacked, and they clacked, getting louder and louder as the train got closer. The brakes gave a squeal, and the train soothed into a stop.

The side door opened, and out stepped the conductor. “Are you the four children we are supposed to pick up?” asked the conductor.

The boy gave him a look, “Yes….Yes we are, the name is Pevensie.”

“Ah yes, Peter Pevensie, I presume.” Said the conductor, looking over the passenger list, “Welcome aboard then.”

The four children stepped onto the train, carrying their luggage. They were then escorted to their cabin; Peter placed the luggage on an overhead shelf. They all then sat, gazing at the beautiful landscape as it rolled passed the train. “At least our stay with that dumb professor is over.” Remarked Edmund in a sarcastic tone.

My favorite extended scene from the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. The setting is at the Council of Elrond, Boromir of Gondor is tempted to use the One Ring against its creator Sauron, when Gandalf stands up and recites the inscription which is found on the One Ring in the Black Speech of Mordor.
