With the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Extended Edition being about 4hrs in length, I have to say that I have at least 3 favorite scenes. I was quite disappointed that Gandalf’s confrontation with the Witch-King didn’t make it into the theatrical cut of the film, and I’m quite glad to have it in the Extended Edition. With the Houses of Healing scene being cut out of the theatrical version, it left the viewer who never read the books pondering: “Why are Faramir and Eowyn randomly standing by each other, holding hands, and smiling?” lol And finally, the Mouth of Sauron. The scene adds to the tensity of the plot, since Tolkien divided the books into two parts each. The first part of the Return of the King dealt with the story of Aragorn, Gandalf, and Merry, and the second part dealing with the adventures of Frodo and Sam, so the entire scene of the Mouth of Sauron doesn’t have the effect to be had in the book.
