Caspian Well, here is chapter two of my awful Chronicles of Narnia stories. Reading these stories should help you understand the stark contrasts between my early and later writings, all of which are currently being ‘re-thought.’ lol I haven’t had much time to write lately, since I’ve been busy keeping this site updated, and writing plenty of emails, (Don’t worry, I’ve got school as well, it’s just not my #1 thing I like mentioning. lol)

Tumnus woke first, and prepared the food for the day ahead. He visited a friend to borrow several horses for the others and himself. He returned home to find the

Pevensies awake and refreshed.

“Shall we set out now? Your Majesties?” asked Tumnus.

“Yes we must, the sooner the better.” Replied Peter.

Peter helped Lucy onto a horse, “Up you go Lu, be careful.”

“King Peter, um, I cannot ride.” Tumnus said in an embarrassed voice.

Peter replied, “I expected that, I mean with your small legs you could not keep a good balance.”

“Peter? May Tumnus ride with me? I’m small enough on the horse, there would be plenty of room.” Begged Lucy.

Peter hesitated for a minute, “well alright, be careful Tumnus.”

Lucy smiled with delight as Peter lifted the faun, who wasn’t very heavy, and placed him behind Lucy. Susan and Edmund mounted their horses and the company was off.

The ride was beautiful, and it being Spring, the flowers were in bloom, and the gentle breeze danced through the grass over the fields of Narnia. The birds were singing their beautiful tunes among the young buds of the trees. The golden sun shed its rays, adding cheerfulness to the spring day.

They rode on and on for a period of time, till about noon, and stopped near a stream flowing from the Western Woods. Peter dismounted and helped Lucy and Tumnus from their horse. Lucy and Susan decided to go and look for some berries in the nearby woods. Peter gave them permission, and he turned to Edmund and Tumnus.

Peter proceeded to ask “Tumnus, I need to know more about Narnia, where is the King Caspian?”

“He is here in Narnia, he has come back from battle in Archenland. The war has gone ill, Caspian and his family were ambushed near the Southern border of Narnia. His wife was shot by an arrow, and soon died.”

“Caspian got married?” asked Edmund.

“Yes, Yes he did, and a happy marriage it was. That is, till the war.” Replied Tumnus.

“Would Caspian be ready to march to war?” asked Peter.

“I do not think so, his men are spent, the army’s supplies low, and their morale low.” Tumnus said in a despairing voice, “but there is one who could help them, Aslan.”

“Aslan? When shall he arrive?” asked Peter.

“None know, all I heard is that Aslan shall return soon, as always, in the time of despair, but he shall bring hope to all.” Tumnus then reached for his flute, which was in a small pouch strung around his neck. He pulled out a piece of parchment with a form of writing on it, he asked Peter to play the flute to the written notes. He sang the song, which as best as I could remember follows:

Aslan the Great! Aslan the Fair!

Aslan with the golden hair!

Come back soon,

Before we are in a tomb,

And are full of despair!

Aslan the Great! Aslan the Fair!

Aslan with the golden hair!

Hope you bring!

As if lightening!

To light up the sky

Before we die!

Aslan the Great! Aslan the Fair!

Aslan with the golden hair!

Bring back the sword,

The Wolf’s Bane!

Let it carry your word,

Before we are slain!

Aslan the Great! Aslan the Fair!

Let us once again see your golden hair!

“Oh Tumnus! That was lovely!” exclaimed Lucy, who had arrived back with her sister Susan, carrying some berries.

“What do you mean by ‘The Wolf’s Bane’?” asked Peter.

Tumnus response was quick, “Your sword your majesty! The sword of Peter the Magnificent!”

“Yes of course! I completely forgot! That’s what I get for leaving Narnia.”

Peter turned to see something moving along the horizon, a cloud of dust. He covered his eyes from the sunlight, trying to make out the growing form on the horizon. He suddenly heard a distant thunder. “Thunder?” muttered Peter, “there isn’t a cloud in the sky!”

“Calormen horsemen! It’s a raid! Run your majesties!” shouted Tumnus. The group ran to the nearby woods to hide, leaving the horses behind. They stopped amid some shrubbery, and ducked down, seeing what would happen. They heard some shouts, and the cavalry approached the horses. “Search the area men! We must find the spies!”

Lucy gasped with fear, would they be found? Had the Calormen actually made it this far into Narnia? There was no answer for her questions, all she could do was hope and pray.

“Sir! A piece of torn cloth! They must have headed off in this direction!”

The man who looked in charge ordered, “Find them!”

“Pet….” Peter cover Susan’s mouth with his hand.

Lucy turned to Edmund and whispered, “I know who that is!” She got up and ran to the soldier in charge, “Caspian!!!”

“Caspian! It cant be!” whispered Ed, “Lucy! Come back here now!” It was too late.

Lucy continued towards the man, “Caspian?”

“Lucy Pevensie? Is that you?” asked the man from under his helmet.

“Yes it is you silly!” she exclaimed, “Peter, Edmund, Susan, Tumnus! Come out! Its King Caspian!.”

Peter was first to appear from the woods, Caspian knelt before him, “Hail Peter! High King of Narnia!”

“Rise Caspian, we thought you were the Calormen invaders.”

“And we thought you were the Calormen,” laughed Caspian, “sorry ‘bout that, but just trying to hunt down the spies.”

Peter then replied, “I understand, Tumnus has been explaining it to me.”

“Ah yes! But Your majesty, we must set out for Cair Paravel before dark, it is no longer a safe place here in Narnia. I shall give you a briefing at the castle.”

“That’s fine. Ed! Sue! Lucy! Tumnus! We shall now set out for Cair Paravel!”

With this the Kings, Queens, and soldiers set out for the great castle of Cair Paravel.
