U.S. Marines Have a Bit of Fun – Ben Hur Style
January 18, 2008

Well, it looks as though the Marines still know how to have some fun! I wish I had a video of it, but here’s the pic from the article. Apparantly, before heading into Fallujah for a strike, the U.S. soldiers had a bit of fun with a reanactment of the Ben Hur Chariot Race:
“The Marine charioteers, wearing togas over their body armor, waved baseball bats done up as spiked maces and jumped into carts forged from cast-off vehicle parts. “

That’s really cool. I love to see people using their imagination to come up with fun things like this. We don’t see enough of that these days.

Yeah, it is. As a matter of fact, I’m jealous! lol I’ve always wanted a ‘Ben-Hur’ chariot…

Lol. It does seem though that a chariot would be easier/cheaper to make/aquire than a horse.

But you still need a horse to pull it! *laughs* Or if you’re lucky, you’ll have a bunch of little brothers to do it for you!

That looks so fun! I wish I could do something like that! Hmm, we have one very old arthritic horse that could pull it… what for a chariot?

A wheelbarrow…maybe.

Haha, nah. How about tearing apart some random wagon, take the wheels, and add it to a chair… lol

He, he, I just might try that! Of course, it would have to be a lightwieght but well built chair so that it would not be too heavy, or fall apart underneath me…. why does a rocking chair keep coming to mind?

Maybe an old wheelchair? (Having flashbacks of “Heidi”)
