Personal Commentary 5:39 pm
On friday I arrived at the Friary in Maine New York, what a beautiful place it’s set up in the moutains overlooking rolling hills and a beautiful forest on a mountain side. The friary also has a lot of ponds and one of them has a family of gease that get really angry when you get close to there nest, it’s pretty funny. Anyways I got there at around 10:30 so I just went to bed. But I got up the next morning went to prayer and ate breakfast went to a Day with Mary and then we left. But before we left Fr. Johannes said 3 times “make sure you have your Id’s so you can get into the stadium”. Keep this in mind.
We headed to a Carmilite monistary in the Bronks (I think it was the Bronks) where we got fed very, very well. And the food was amazing, if I ever have the choice of going to a five star restarunt to eat or a Carmilite monistary I’d choose the Carmlite monistary. But as we were eating another kid (the only other one besides me that wasn’t a brother or priest) got a call from his mom saying that he found his ID… 3 hours away from where we were. Everyone started to laugh. His ID was fake, and the brothers made it hopeing that they woundn’t really look at it. And to top it off his mom faxed it to the monostary for him. So he had a real fax of a fake ID! “No, no I’m not a terrorist I swear, my fax of my fake ID says so.” He did end up getting in though.
After mass the next morning we had breakfast and set off to Yankee Stadium. Well to make a very long story we were on the last subway train untill our stop. We were on it for what seemed to be a very long time. Then this guy walked on. He was a very big and tall black guy wearing a Roman Collar (the collar that priests wear) but he wasn’t a Catholic priest, he was a Born Again minister. It seemed immediatly after the door shut he started to persicute us and the Pope. Saying that he doesn’t worship one man but worships God alone and that the Pope is going to hell. Well I’m sorry buddy, so your homework Catholics only worship God too. Anyways he then started preaching or yelling rather in a cherry/angry voice. Me, the brothers and priests, and everyone elts in the car was silent with our backs tward him, for the most part. And I felt bad for this one priest who was right underneith this guy the entire time, it was pretty funny though. Anyways, this guy whent on and he was the only non Catholic in the car. There was a bunch of spanish people who started to chant “Benideto, *clap clap* Benideto, *clap clap*” ect. Well this went on for a short time before this guy knew what to do. Then the genious decided to add in “The Pope goin’ ta hell” in the clapping parts. This went on some time and then stopped. The guy continued preaching his false doctrine to a bunch of people that were getting very descusted with this guy. The friars, me and everyelts who knew it started to sing the Salve Regina (my favoriet song ever). The guy was thrown back, he didn’t know what to say. Then he started with this very repetive song, it had like 7 words over and over and over again. We were finished then the spanish people started again they finished then we sung one that I knew the words too but I don’t know what it was called, it kinda sounded like the Regina Cheli but it wasn’t. Anyways the guy eventually got off and all was ‘good’ again untill of corse we go outside and meet all the protesters.
The next part of my adventure isn’t as long. I’m not going to tell you about the mass because most of you probably saw it on TV if not then all I can tell you is that is was beautiful. One of the only things that was really wrong in the staduim was the fact that people were eating right before mass! Brother Luke whom I was sitting next to said to this couple behind us “Umm… excuse me. I don’t really know if I sould be saying anything or not but your about to be a Holy Mass, and your eating? Thats terrible!” the guy basically srugged him off and said “Oh well”. But the rest of that day you had to be there for. It was just awesome all the way through. We returned to the convent and I again got very little sleep.
To keep this post from being too long I’ll stop here at day one. I’ll post day two very soon.

You and your group showed incredible patience and calm in the subway. Clearly the Holy Spirit was with you.
