Man, I used to think Ben Stein was kind of smart. “Darwinism cannot explain gravity” WOW!
I suppose you know that the actual question posed to Dawkins was IF life turned out to be designed, would it be more likely to be by god or alien life? Then it was edited to seem as if he was saying life may have the appearance of design, and that he’s willing to consider extraterrestrial designers but not god.
Do you expect a production crew who uses such dishonest tactics to produce an honest documentary? I may be a little rusty in my bible studies but I’m pretty sure that lying in the name of god is still a lie and a sin.
Of course, I don’t know why anyone would expect an intelligent opinion on creationism/evolution from someone who thinks evolution has anything to do with a lightning bolt striking a dust particle and producing a person.
I have not seen this movie but this makes me want to. If this clip is a representative example then it must really be as bad as everyone says it is.

I think similarly.. I loved win Ben Stein’s Money but seeing him on this topic was surprising.
The theory of evolution only claims to explain the amount of variation in life on earth. I don’t know why they are acting like its related to gravity, the big bang or the origin of life. As to why god isn’t a valid theory for the origin of life or evolution is because it doesn’t explain the mechanistic process of cause and effect. Certainly a person can believe god is responsible for these events and that belief can even reside alongside scientific theory, it doesn’t make it a scientific theory in itself.

Jason, I have heard of that in before in my brief studies on the subject. And wether or not it was edited, or thrown way out of wack is not my point. The point of the matter is, is that many atheists wether they are educated on this matter or not, try to use Darwinism vs. uneducated Catholics to try to discrourage them from there faith and the belief in God and that is also dirty play is it not? Especally when some of these people are knowledgeable of the question being proposed as IF. And wuold take Stien as credible before I would take Dawkins… Aliens, Come on.
For Prez ‘24, I don’t know why people are relating it to gravity, but I can see why people are saying why the big bang is tied in, that is because darwin doesn’t mention God in his philosophy, as far as i know. I, nor the Church, is againts science. We need scientist to make medicines, and technological advancements. But science can’t be used to explain everything for instance the vastness of space. Sometimes it just calls for faith and reasion.

I wouldn’t disagree, though I think the point is that ‘God did it’ doesn’t count as a scientific answer just because we’re still researching for a sound theory.
