Acting Guild

Ave Maria!

I’d like to welcome anyone who attends the Franciscan Friary of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Griswold Connecticut to join our newly founded Catholic Acting Guild. We plan on tackling all sorts of things such as films, plays, and the like; all in a healthy, sound, Catholic Environment. As of now, we are currently getting our first meeting planned out, which I hope can be settle for the First Saturday in July. Any ideas concerning productions and things we can do are most welcome. I’ll keep you all updated about our plans and schedule!

~Paul

P.S.If you would like to be a part of our mailing list, yet are not involved openly with the group, you are more than welcome to join it. Provided that you know me in some way via the interenet or the like. (Complete Strangers will not be excepted.)  Simly leave a comment here in the post stating that you would like to be a part of the list, and I will get your email from the comment information you must input before posting.  Thanks!

A more comprehensive page about the film aspect of the group may be found here.

  1. Alright… Perfect plot for our first movie: Lost Skeleton of Cadavera 2… or somthing resembling it!!

I would like to suggest that we do some short play with a wide range of acting possibilities before we do any kind of movie thing. Because then we will know who can act well, and give them the big parts, and also, we will have figured out somewhat what kind of roles people will be best at. If you don’t happen to have such a play, I have a few that I found some where (or wrote) which might do the trick. I just think it is a bad idea to start an acting guild out with a movie before we know what we are dealing with for actors.

Also, I would really like to do some Shakespeare if we could. It would be fun to see how it turns out. Some people have NO idea how to act in Shakespeare, and it can help people to learn to act; by learning how to act Shakespeare you learn to act anything!

Just a few thoughts, I hope this works out.

  3. Ugh Sakespeare…. well I can’t complain seeing I probably won’t be here for our first production anyhow. :)

  4. Thanks for the suggestion Sarah! If anything, we need to get an idea of our capabilities before moving into anything big. We have some issues though, like organizing a date for getting together. First Saturday would be ideal, but its a work day in preparation for the Knights of Lepanto Encampment. You can still come down, but I doubt we’ll be able to do anything then, though maybe have a little meeting or something at lunch.
