FUN!

Now that Paul is finally gone, we can have some real fun!! whoo hoo! ;)

Just kidding…but this is funny..and sadly it’s SO TRUE!

Imagine the conversation The Creator might have with St. Francis about this:

“Frank you know all about gardens and nature. What in the world is going on down there? What happened to the dandelions, violets, thistle and stuff I started eons ago? I had a perfect, no maintenance garden plan. Those plants grow in any type of soil, withstand drought and multiply with abandon. The nectar from the long-lasting blossoms attracted butterflies, honey bees and flocks of songbirds. I expected to see a vast garden of colors by now. But all I see are these green rectangles.”

“It’s the tribes that settled there, Lord. The Suburbanites. They started calling your flowers ‘weeds’ and went to great extent to kill them and replace them with grass.”

“Grass? But it’s so boring. It’s not colorful. It doesn’t attract butterflies, birds and bees, only grubs and sod worms. It’s temperamental with temperatures. Do these suburbanites really want all that grass growing there?”

“Apparently so, Lord. They go to great pains to grow it and keep it green. They begin each spring by fertilizing grass and poisoning any other plant that crops up in the lawn.”

“The spring rains and cool weather probably make grass grow really fast. That must make the Suburbanites happy.”

“Apparently not, Lord. As soon as it grows a little, they cut it _ sometimes twice a week.”

“They cut it? Do they then bale it like hay?”

“Not exactly, Lord. Most of them rake it up and put it in bags.”

“They bag it? Why? Is it a cash crop? Do they sell it?”

“No, sir. Just the opposite. They pay to throw it away.”

“Now let me get this straight. They fertilize grass so it will grow. And when it does grow, they cut it off and pay to throw it away?”

“Yes, sir.”

“These Suburbanites must be relieved in the summer when we cut back on the rain and turn up the heat. That surely slows the growth and saves them a lot of work.”

“You aren’t going believe this Lord. When the grass stops growing so fast, they drag out hoses and pay more money to water it so they can continue to mow it and pay to get rid of it.”

“What nonsense! At least they kept some of the trees. That was a sheer stroke of genius, if I do say so myself. The trees grow leaves in the spring to provide beauty and shade in the summer. In the autumn they fall to the ground and form a natural blanket to keep moisture in the soil and protect the trees and bushes. Plus, as they rot, the leaves form compost to enhance the soil. It’s a natural circle of life.”

“You better sit down, Lord. The Suburbanites have drawn a new circle. As soon as the leaves fall, they rake them into great piles and have them hauled away.”

“No! What do they do to protect the shrub and tree roots in the winter and keep the soil moist and loose?”

“After throwing away your leaves, they go out and buy something they call mulch. They haul it home and spread it around in place of the leaves.”

“And where do they get this mulch?”

“They cut down trees and grind them up.”

“Enough! I don’t want to think about this anymore. Saint Catherine, you’re in charge of the arts. What movie have you scheduled for us tonight?”

“Dumb and Dumber, Lord. It’s a real stupid movie about…”

“Never mind I think I just heard the whole story.”

A “Reflection” on Transgenderism and Homosexuality

Well, even though this is much more watered down than I wanted it to be, you must remember that I go to a public school…if I really expressed my beliefs then I would get kicked out! ;)

So we needed to write a one page “reflection” in my psychology class on this movie we watched on transgender children and then on a presentation made by Mr. Lynch-the head of the “gay straight alliance” at my school…

I know it’s not very good but tell me what you think: (Sorry if it is really long *ahem Marc*)

After watching the tragic movie on the stories of transgender children and listening to Mr. Lynch’s presentation on gender issues one would think that an opinion could be swayed. But not mine; in fact my beliefs are even stronger than before. I am a member of a devout Catholic family whose morals are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and I am proud to be part of it. Nowadays it isn’t uncommon to see someone leave the Catholic Church because they feel it is too strict and its views are too old-fashioned. Being Catholic and going to a public school where hardly anyone shares my beliefs can be difficult when it comes to discussing issues such as these; I have been accused of being “hateful, sententious and bigoted” when it comes to my beliefs on homosexuality and transgender issues. Contrary to popular belief, a true Christian, like myself, is not a hateful, sententious and bigoted person and I do not hate anyone even if I am against things like homosexuality. I simply “hate the sin, but I still love the sinner”.

When I heard that 1 in 10 American children have gender issues, as sad as this fact is, I was actually angry when I realized how preventable this issue is. For example, Jazz, the 6-year-old “girl” who wanted to wear dresses at a young age and become a girl just baffled my mind. I could never imagine being the mother of that child and knowing that the male child that I gave birth to was gone! Riley, who used to pray to God because “he was trapped in the wrong body” had a lot of feminine influence from his twin sister and his parents were not on the same page when it came to his gender issue. Many people do not realized that having a stable family and background is vital in a child’s life. Most importantly, having a strong father figure is vital to healthy families…. I wonder how many gender issues come from divorced or single parent families? Marriage is for a man and a woman and that is the way God intended it to be; since a gay couple cannot naturally reproduce then obviously nature didn’t intend for it to happen. And because of this I truly believe that being transgender or gay is definitely developmental and a learned process that can be changed later in life. While some argue that being gay or transgender is genetic, there never has been any scientific proof or direct evidence that there is a “gay gene”. If homosexuality or being transgender were genetic, then the child would have to have a parent who was gay or transgender or who carried the “gay gene”. Although, as Mr. Lynch said, one cannot deny that some people have gay feelings or attitudes, this does not mean that one needs to act on them. Too many “gender confused” children go through counseling, family issues, school and friend problems that one would think make them see that maybe what they were “feeling” wasn’t right or worth it. Like 17-year-old “Jeremy” who went through severe depression and had a lot of family and social problems, many children go through this as well and some are even drawn to suicide. If parents do not play a balanced and healthy part in their children’s lives and teach them to follow their conscience, which is formed by the natural law that God has infused into our hearts, rather than their feelings, then maybe there wouldn’t be as many confused children in our world today. If everyone acted on their mere feelings and sudden urges then only Heaven knows what our society would be like!

Father Euteneuer

Sorry for my recent lack of postings. School has been crazy!

So, in my psychology class yesterday we talked about the recent ”discussion” that Sean Hannity had on his FOX NEWS show “Hannity and Colmes” with Father Euteneuer, the head of Human Life International. As you’ll see, “wishy washy catholic” Sean Hannity made Father look as bad and hateful as possible on national TV..but in my opinion it was Mr. Hannity that looked pretty idiotic…

This is what a priest should be like…humble, always ready to stand up for the faith and suffering humiliation all the while. We need more advocates like Father Euteneuer in the Church! Tell me what you think:

Also, you can read this article that Father wrote on his experience as well as many others on this “discussion” at his website www.hli.org

‘Faith and Family Flix’ vs. ‘Netflix’

cleanfilms.gif

This may be a really random post, but at least it will be shorter than my last one :)

So, I recently read an article on the catholicexchange.com about a family who gave up cable and their Netflix subscription when they realized all the “smut” that was beginning to corrupt their children. (surprise surprise) Of course we all know why they gave up cable, but they gave up Netflix  because they saw how many gay rights groups that Neflix supports and because of it’s very popular DVD section labeled “Gay and Lesbian movies”. There are also many suggestive movies on Netflix and some of the ratings and reviews aren’t quite accurate. So they found a much better source for their family movies called  www.faithandfamilyflix.com

For all you movie goers who are sick of dirty movies and being required to look up the content of every movie you get..this family oriented site is great! It is reasonably, if not cheaply, priced and you have an unlimited number of movies you can get each month (as long as you send the others back) and the movies are all ‘clean and safe’ for the kids! They have a lot of classic films and musicals and of course plenty of Christian movies.

So, if you or your family were thinking of getting Netflix, think again…and choose Faith and Family Flix instead!

Haha it kinda sounds like I am trying to sell this to you ;)

Where Has Femininity Gone?

St. Therese

As my first post, I would like to address one of the ever growing issues in today’s society: the loss and lack of femininity and modesty. I have noticed how of late it has become much more apparent than it ever has; everywhere you turn you find traces of feminine degradation. On the news and in the media, in music, in schools and in the workforce there is a sign of secularism and perversion towards women. Although women are “the gentle sex”, they have tended to be treated like “objects” in some cultures, and nowadays pornography, contraception and abortion are actually encouraged, leading to the very destruction of the female body and soul. It saddens me to see such a decrease in good, young women and I have no clue when it all went wrong!

Very frequently I notice how women are trying to compete with men to prove to the “stronger sex” that they aren’t “weak” and deserve the same amount of rights by taking over men’s jobs and competing with them intellectually. Our society encourages “strong” and independent women; you can find this in politics with Hilary Clinton and of course on television with women like Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres. Women are congratulated when they make in into the Army and go off to fight, and when they do “hard” jobs that should otherwise be for men (like being prison guards, police officers, and road workers) Some women are glad to inform you that they do not plan on getting married and never ever want kids and they love being able to “support” themselves. Being a feminine woman does not mean being independent and selfish even though our society tells us that. And since our culture doesn’t encourage femininity, men aren’t encouraged to be chivalrous, a much needed quality in men. So because men aren’t encouraged to be masculine and chivalrous, marriages are going downhill extremely fast.

Luckily, being feminine does not make a woman weak at all. If anything, femininity makes a women stronger in ideals, respect and in faith. Being feminine means being gentle, compassionate, very modest, charitable (more…)
