I found this great article on http://marymediatrix.com/ and was pretty excited about it. The article states how cubism mirrors our culture and society. As I have said before art does reveal a lot about the culture and morality of a civilization. If we look in the times of the Roman empire we see a lot of beautiful art work. We also see through there art work that they have desensitised them selves to the sacredness of the human body. We see how well this work out for Pompey when people were actually preserved in the act of sodomy. Any how if I talk too much about this I’ll just be repeting my comments on MasterXavier’s previous post on art. This article specifically points on cubism. It promotes relativism and I don’t know about you but it kinda makes me “ADD” while looking at it.
There is something in the study of the art produced in specific century that reveals the mood of that time. It reveals its beliefs, its interest, its ideals and even its hope. As far as “cubism” is concern, it almost shows like a “crystal ball” a “reading” that what is in trouble in contemporary man is his mind: the lack of certitude, the pluralism of philosophies which are epistemological (meaning, dealing with knowledge, “episteme”) in origin but have their consummation in moral decadence. When truth is distorted, the notion and practice of the good loose their foundation. When perspectives of realism in painting is substituted with cubes, man is certainly de-personalized, that is, he is mechanized.
This is only all too true. The truth has become very distorted. Art, in this case, is a warning sign to the world. As you have just read it tells many things and these things don’t look too good. I think that this article’s right on the money.

I read something today that I thought was a bit disturbing. I was reading this interview with Father Gabriel Amorth who is the Chief Exorcists of Rome. In this article they talked about the revised version of the exorcism Right. “This long-awaited Ritual has turned into a farce. An incredible obstacle that is likely to prevent us acting against the demon.” So it doesn’t work!? That’s not quite what I expected to hear. (more…)

Are priests today becoming too worldly? I found this article through Radix’s website and thought it was very interesting. I also found that I was not the only one with this opinion.
“Cardinal Franc Rode said that priests today tend to be less obedient to the Church and more responsive to the world. He cited reluctance to wear clerical dress as a symptom of this trend.”
This is a sad reality. I was told that there are only about two religious orders in Australia that wear habits. And we can see that in our country with sisters who wear regular clothes. This is upsetting to me. Some priests and religous are sadly taking a more worldy/ easer route and it is evedent in just the way they dress.

Personal Commentary Christian, Colverfield monster, movie review, Movies, Religion 6:08 pm
On 1-18-08, I went to go see the new movie Cloverfield. When the movie was over I wanted to go see it again, right then and there. The film was defiantly unique and was the most intense and loudest movie I ever saw. Although I don’t encourage anyone to go see the film because in there beginning there is a “morning after scene” (that dosen’t show anything, and is useless) along with a lot of language and, “Oh, My God’s”. The movie is also very graphic as far as wounds and blood is concerned and, I’m not gonna give any spoilers out but there is a scene that is very bloody and very strange and it kinda makes you go “eww” I don’t really think it needed to be in there either, it was just a way to kill off a character. Many people also did leave the theater because of motion sickness, the movie is filmed in “Blair Witch” style don’t forget. The movie was a good depiction though on what people of this “pagan” society of ours would be like if there was an attack by a bug/chicken/whale/frog monster thing or if it simply got caught in the middle of a battle scene. In the movie there was no one saying a rosary on the side, or any other form of some one asking God for help which I thought was very unrealistic but as far as realism of people’s reactions that was the only flaw, sadly. I know our country’s going down the tubes but there has to be someone in Manhattan that love’s Jesus and Our Lady, instead of people asking for Our Lord’s intersession as there first reaction, the reaction for the common person of Manhattan was “What the #$!* is that”. But what else can we expect from Hollywood today; the only movies that are recent have close to perfect were The Passion of the Christ and The Lord of the Rings and Narnia, just about. I do commend the film for its realism but, they could have it been a little more Christian, which is to dumb down the language a little bit, take away the useless morning after scene and the discussion at the party which said that the main character “hit it home” before marriage. The film really has no point other than to entertain it has no message it tries to get across or anything, not that I saw anyways. To speak about the film in more depth I would have to go see it again because the way it was filmed really makes it hard to decipher if it was trying to get across, if anything, it could have been innocent in that regard compared to something like The Golden Compass or The Matrix, but then again I could be wrong…. I just don’t know.
!!!Warning clip contains a huge spoiler!!! and it sounds like they bleeped out most of the language, hence the breaks in the audio.
just to show you the intensity of the film.

I’ll first point out that the purpose of this post is not to bash protestants but to point out that many Catholics would make good protestants and that’s not really a good thing, because if your Catholic, be Catholic and go all the way otherwise it doesn’t make any sense.
Over the years as I have grown and become more knowledgeable about my faith I have noticed that many Catholics are moving to a ‘newer feel good Catholic church’ known as the charismatic movement. And although I will go into that more deeply in a later post what I really want to talk about it the way that the Church is taking a turn and not for the best unfortunately into becoming more protestant which can probably be traced back to the charismatic movement.
I myself am not a traditionalist but am just a Catholic who does his best to follow the teachings of the Church. I have taken notice recently at a disturbing change in the Church and that is manly that we are substituting our Catholic culture for the protestant culture. Paul did a post about the art in the Churches now-a-days and how it is either completely absent or is ugly or is pleasing to the senses only and is not very meditative. We see this trait in protestant churches, either they have no art because they say that it’s distracting or they have art that’s very modern and plan, just for decoration, not for a person to venerate or to meditate on. Many people may argue that its easer then for a person to convert because its closer looking to the church that they just came from. Hmmm… I don’t know about you but to me that’s stupid reasoning; most people convert because they found something, The Holy Eucharist. Our priests and bishops must recognize that we must have buildings that reflect that. (more…)
